Magically Delicious

Before you read this, you need to know that every word of it is true. Every. Single. Word.

Magically Delicious

My son chased down a Leprechaun
yesterday,
the wind blew his hair
laughter filled the air,
he ran after the wily little man
without a care.

Just as Graham nearly had him pinned,
that Leprechaun darted in another direction
trying to find someplace to hide,
but the luck of the Irish was not on his side,
for Graham was unshakable,
and soon he had hold of the little man
with the green suit and orange hair.

Graham demanded his gold
because everybody knows
if you catch a Leprechaun
he has to give you his pot of gold.

That Leprechaun just stared at Graham with a
tricky glint in his eyes and
kept quiet about where
his treasure was hidden
so Graham turned him up-side-down
and shook him!

But there was no gold to be found
because Graham had only captured
a paper Leprechaun, you see.

He was not disappointed though
not at all
because his imagination was filled
with endless possibilities
which in the end
are more valuable than gold.

Graham stuck that Leprechaun
in his pocket
to bring him home
and hang on the refrigerator
while he ate a bowl of
Lucky Charms...

                 and dreamed of magical places.

_______________________________________

As I said, every word is true. Graham was in kindergarten at the time. When I picked him up from school, he went to show me his Leprechaun, but the wind took it. He looked so cute chasing it around the school yard, and he really did turn it upside down and shake it.

Happy St Patrick's Day!
